Cornesy calls out reporters over Hird “vendetta”

2 min read

Graham Cornes says James Hird was “attacked” by some in the media over the Essendon supplements saga.

“You’ve got people making unsubstantiated allegations,” Cornesy said of Hird. “You’ve got all these cowards who hide behind social media to have their point of view. You don’t have to read that stuff, but some of it filters back.”

“Then when you’ve got credible journalists like Caroline Wilson — who’ve had nothing short of a vendetta against James — and dare I say people like Patrick Smith and Rita Panahi in News Limited… they’ve attacked him.”

LISTEN HERE:

Cornesy said those reporters would be standing by their positions following Hird’s intentional overdose last week — before son Kane hit Graham with a return shot of his own…

“They’d be taking a high moral ground. No one will convince them that they’re wrong. They’ve got a perspective that they’ve presented and they believe and they’re going to stand by… ever heard a journalist say that they’re wrong?”

Kane: “I’ve never heard you say you’re wrong.”

Graham: “There was one occasion.”

But Cornesy said Hird’s reputation was “trashed — he can’t walk tall in society like he once did… it’s a sad, sad thing.”
