Port Adelaide premiership captain Warren Tredrea says he hopes his beloved Magpies can survive the financial fallout of the coronavirus crisis, but adds — “hand on heart” – the current day Magpies are “not what I grew up with”.
Tredders told the FIVEAA sports show this week:“I think everyone’s disappointed but I’ll speak hand on heart as a former Port Adelaide junior. What we’re seeing now at the Magpies is not what I grew up with. It’s the jumper and it’s a reserves team really. “If you want to be harsh, there’s no recruiting zones, there’s no Eyre Peninsula, there’s no Greg Philips coming from Port Lincoln way or all those people. It is very different. “I get the heart strings and don’t worry I still support the Magpies but it is an SANFL reserves team with some top up players. “I hope that doesn’t happen but this decision is not going to be a Port Adelaide decision… it’s not going to be their decision… this decision is bigger than us.”LISTEN:
