Fox Footy expert David King says Adelaide’s failure to secure homesick Blue Bryce Gibbs in last year’s trade period could prove to be a costly mistake.
“I think they made an error in not giving up two first-round picks for Bryce Gibbs,” King said at The Advertiser’s AFL season launch on Wednesday.
“If they would’ve done that, then you would’ve absolutely put the magnifying glass on this season.
“It would have been a real driver that could have got that club right up there.”
But King said he still believed the club was “a lock for the top four”:
“They’ve got a forward line that knows how to run, they know how to score… there’s a really good chemistry there about having a spread of goal kickers not just the one.
“I know they got beaten for contested footy through the finals. But before you win a flag, you’ve always got to have a tough loss in the finals.
“I think they are a real chance.”
