The upcoming Indian cricket tour of Australia is “looking sketchy at best” as parties struggle to agree on details, reports FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe.
Rowey spoke to FIVEAA Breakfast’s David & Will on Monday about the first test which is due to be played in Adelaide on 17 December:
“We still don’t have a fixture. I’m hearing Cricket Australia, the BCCI, state governments – they just can’t agree on isolation, COVID training bubbles, at what state, can families attend, at what cost… It’s looking sketchy at best.
“If that tour doesn’t go ahead Cricket Australia will go broke. And Adelaide Oval, they need the revenue. The SMA, Cricket Australia we need the revenue. This is massive…
“Fingers crossed it all goes ahead. I think it’s worth about $300 million when they tour with all the TV rights. It’s huge and we need it.”
PENBO: “Talking to people around that there’s no clarity whatsoever here in South Australia about scheduling, there’s no clarity around the timing of the test… no one’s got the faintest bead on what’s happening with it.”
