Port Adelaide star recruit Charlie Dixon will be in recovery for 4-6 weeks following an operation after he damaged knee cartilage at training on Monday.
Dixon underwent surgery on Tuesday, and head of high performance Darren Burgess says he expects Dixon to make a full recovery.

“His operation was pretty straightforward and we’ll be able to get him through his rehab by the end of the NAB Challenge,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.
“He actually got through the whole session, but felt sore when he came off the track and we opted to get it scanned.
“It was in his best interests to get it tidied up now, rather than risk further damage when the season starts.
“He should be available for the NAB Challenge at some point, but our priority is obviously about making sure he’s ready to go for Round 1.”
Dixon previously hit the deck with a knee scare during a training session in mid-January, but the club dismissed concerns over his health at the time, and it’s unclear whether this week’s incident is in any way related.
In better news for Port Adelaide, Jared Polec is on track to be available for Round 1 after recovering from a foot injury that nearly ended his career.
