Pilko’s Heard A Rumour About The Outgoing Port Adelaide CEO

2 min read

FIVEAA’s Tony Pilkington says the rumours are flying about what Keith Thomas will do when he leaves Port Adelaide at the end of next season, but according to Pilko, KT will be approached about a career in politics.

Pilko said this week on FIVEAA mornings:

“The soon to retire CEO of Port Adelaide… former manager here at Adelaide’s FIVEAA and a terrific bloke, Keith Thomas. All sorts of rumours about what Keith will do.

“Somebody said he’ll replace the boss Gil McLachlan at the AFL. Somebody said he’ll go back to radio perhaps as the national sales director for the Macquarie radio network now owned by Fairfax. Somebody else said why wouldn’t he think about joining some of the boards around the place. God, Westpac would need somebody of his integrity.

“Here’s one: has Keith Thomas already or is about to be approached by one of the political parties here in South Australia with a view to politics. A guy who’s good at what he does, real good, and reputable and honest and straight forward and a hard worker, he’d make a brilliant acquisition for any of the political parties.

“That’s the word I’ve heard, that at least one heavyweight in one of the federal political parties has already or is about to approach Keith Thomas with a view to getting Keith to consider a career in politics.”
