Sunrise’s Sam Armytage has apologised to viewers after Channel 7 decided to broadcast Nick Kyrgios’ Wimbledon match instead of women’s world number one Ash Barty’s.
“We’re sorry and hopefully we’ll work it out,” Armytage said after sports presenter Mark Beretta explained the decision.
“People had been watching for two hours, at the prime minutes of the match you can’t go to Ash,” Beretta said.
“We waited until Nick was done and then we went with Ash.”
Barty defeated China’s Zheng Saisai while Kyrgios beat fellow Australian Jordan Thompson.
