Boaky is about to play his 200th -- but it nearly didn’t happen

1 min read

On the eve of his 200th game for Port Adelaide, captain Travis Boak says he came close to leaving the club in 2012.

“There was certainly periods through that year where I was speaking to mum on the phone and my manager and there was times where I thought I’d leave for sure,” Boaky told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA.

“I wanted to go back home. I wanted to be closer to my family, but look, that was probably only two or three days out of the whole year.”

Boak said Port Adelaide was like family…

“I love the club and I’ve always loved the club,” he said.

“From that first moment I walked in the door it was like family and still to this day it’s family. That’s the big reason why I stayed. It’s special to be a part of this club.

“I’m absolutely privileged to be around and walk in those doors every day. I’ll be grateful till the day I finish footy that I’m at this club. It was a big decision, but I’m glad I stayed.”
