Austraian sprint champion Raylene Boyle has hit out at the IOC’s decision to allow Russian athletes to compete at this year’s Olympic Games in Rio.
Speaking on the FIVEAA Sports Show, Boyle was strong on what the punishment should’ve been.
“I would’ve liked to have seen the Russians banned to teach them a lesson,” said Boyle.
“We know that they (partake in) a systematic doping program.”
Boyle believes the credibility of the Olympic Games is in doubt.
“You haven’t had (a clean Games) for a very long time,” she said. “I think you’ve just got to watch it and have an appreciation of what the athletes are doing, regardless of whether they’re cheating or not.
“If you thought about the cheating you’d never watch the Games. It’s not only the Russians, it’s the world.”
The three-time Olympian also weighed in on the introduction of golf at this year’s Games.
“Oh god, what a ridiculous sport! Tennis shouldn’t be there either.
“Unless the Olympic Games are the ultimate, then they shouldn’t be there. I don’t know why Greg Norman had it in his head that he wanted golf in the Olympics. It’s just crazy.”
