Respected football journalist Mike Sheahan says Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley’s departure from the club is now certain.
“I think Bucks is gone as coach of Collingwood,” Mike said on Melbourne’s SEN on Monday morning.
“I’m a really big Buckley fan personally… but I think it’s a question now of not if — but when with Bucks,” he said.
Collingwood 8.8 (56) was beaten by Carlton 12.7 (79) on Saturday, and now sits at 15 on the ladder with two wins.
“I think it’s something that has to be a mutual agreement between two parties… he’s been a sensational servant of the Collingwood Football Club. I think there will be special consideration given in this case.”
Back in April, Pies President Eddie McGuire backed Bucks in the face of mounting speculation about the coach’s future:
“Things can turn quickly if you get the right mix in there, but it takes a bit of a build,” he said.
“There isn’t a panic to be had. We won’t turn on our own.
“We won’t decimate people who give to our club day in, day out over tens of years.”
