Adelaide Crows Overlook Tall Talent With Rookie Pick

1 min read

FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe says he is “flabbergasted” the Adelaide Crows didn’t contact young ruck prospect Henry Crauford during the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP).

Rowey told David & Will on Thursday’s FIVEAA Breakfast:

Crows signed SSP rookie Ayce Taylor. He’s a 191cm utility type. He’s fast, he’s agile, he’s clean, plays across halfback — think of Tom Doedee. We wish him well, no question about that. Hamish [Ogilvie, AFC national recruiting manager] picks these talented players and they tend to do well.

“I’m just flabbergasted — and I’ve made a number of calls — flabbergasted they didn’t even contact a young raw-boned Norwood talent. His name’s Henry Crauford, 204cm ruck prospect. He signed with Essendon.

“It suggests to me (a) they don’t rate Henry enough, (b) they’ve got their eye on someone else, or (c) they don’t think ruck’s a problem.”

WILL: “I can’t believe it’s (c). It looks like a massive issue. I’m with you, Rowey — flabbergasted.”
