South Aussie “teenage spin prodigy” Lloyd Pope has signed up to play for the Sydney Sixers in this years Big Bash League.

“Aged just 18, the bowling sensation has already hit the headlines twice in 2018 and has also been noted as a huge future prospect for Australian cricket,” the Sixers announced on Wednesday.

“In January, Pope represented Australia at the U19 World Cup and produced a stunning bowling display, taking eight wickets to help Australia defend 127 against England in the quarter-finals.

“More recently, in just his second Sheffield Shield match for the South Australian Redbacks, Pope became the youngest player in the history of the competition to take a seven-wicket haul, when he produced a magnificent bowling performance against Queensland. The leg-spinner finished with figures of 7/87.”
