EARLIER…
Adelaide Crows captain Taylor Walker deserves a one-week ban for his tackle on GWS Giant Josh Kelly, says Mark Robinson.
Writing for News Ltd on Monday, Robbo said:
“Some of the commentariat are trying to exonerate the Crows skipper, but it is futile. The tackle was superb, the finish was dangerous, Josh Kelly was gaga and clearly we can’t have players knocked out through a tackle.
“Walker should sit out for a week.”
Meanwhile Tim Watson said the tackle was “right on the edge” and Walker should avoid suspension.
“I thought he tried to release him in the tackle, if you watch it really closely frame-by-frame,” Watson told SEN on Monday.
“Then he looked at him as if to say: ‘gee, have I gone too far with that tackle?’. Which he probably did.
“I actually thought it was right on the edge and you only had to look at the players out there at the time, there was a delayed reaction to what he’d done.
“So I don’t know whether the players actually thought it was outside the rules of the game.”
