Outgoing Adelaide Crow Don Pyke Says He Is “Keen To Keep Coaching”

1 min read

Departing Adelaide Crows coach Don Pyke says the decision to step down was his, but he is still “keen to keep coaching”.

Pyke said on Thursday he will now take some time to talk with friends and family about what his next move might be.

“I’m keen to keep coaching,” he said. “I think I’ve got something to offer in that space. We’ll see what the future holds.”

“I believe I still have a lot to offer the game.”

Pyke revealed he had discussions with club chairman Rob Chapman and CEO Andrew Fagan in “recent times”, but the final decision was his.

“Clearly the teams recent performance is not to our or my expectations… ultimately I take responsibility.

“Change is required. It came down to what is in the best interests of the team and club.

“With others I’m part of the problem quite clearly. Am I also part of the solution?… I’ve reached the decision that it’s best to hand over to a fresh face and a new voice.”

“It’s been an absolute privilege and joy to coach this club. I loved my time here. The decision’s been extraordinarily difficult to reach.”
