Port Adelaide star Ollie Wines says his only moment of hesitation about whether to re-sign with the club came when coach Ken Hinkley’s own future was on the line.
“The biggest second thoughts I had was when his [Hinkley’s] future was up in the air a little bit,” Wines said on Wednesday after inking a new four-year deal with the club.
“That perhaps would have made my decision a little bit tougher because I’ve formed such a good bond with him.
“He’s almost like a bit of a father figure over here.
“Not just for me but I know I can speak on the behalf of a lot of the boys.
“I guess he’s a big part of why I made the decision.”
