SA cricketing legend Neil Dansie was the last man to bat with Don Bradman in a grade cricket match.
“The crowd used to ring up to see if he was batting,” Neil told FIVEAA. “On this occasion I reckon there was three or four hundred there. I came in, there was two out and he met me and said, ‘Let’s have a look, sonny.’
“I never faced a ball for the first six or seven overs… we stopped for drinks, he got out the first ball after drinks, the faintest of nicks. The ump gave him out, they booed the umpire, clapped him off, went to the Alberton Hotel and we didn’t see them again.”
