“From a club perspective there’s a lot to be optimistic about,” Watts said on Tuesday.
“Port Adelaide finished just outside the top four last year, have some really promising young players who are getting some experience under their belts and they’ve added two great footballers already to their list in Tom Rockliff and Steven Motlop.
“Personally, I can’t wait for pre-season to begin so I can start working with the likes of Charlie Dixon, Robbie Gray, Travis Boak and Chad Wingard.”

Melbourne forward Jack Watts has done a deal to move to Port Adelaide.
Writing for The Advertiser on Tuesday, Michelangelo Rucci reports:
“Watts, 26, has confirmed his long-expected nomination of the Power as his club of choice after being asked by Melbourne to consider his options.
“The Victorian is understood to have told the Melbourne Football Club on Tuesday of his wish to be a Power player.
“Watts, who has two years to serve on his contract with the Demons, is expected to command a second-round draft pick to complete his trade to Alberton. The Power has two secondpicks Nos. 31 and 34 in next month’s AFL national draft in Sydney.”
