Adelaide’s Deal To Trade Mitch McGovern To Carlton Is Done

2 min read

UPDATE, 9.33 am — Adelaide Crows CONFIRM 3-Way Deal For Mitch McGovern

Adelaide FC has confirmed its deal with Carlton for wantaway star Mitch McGovern is done.

According to the club:

“The Crows receive pick No. 13, a future fifth-round selection from Carlton and highly-rated Sturt forward Shane McAdam, who the Blues were able to claim as one of their mature-aged pre-draft access picks.

“Carlton gains McGovern and a future third-round selection from Adelaide, while Sydney receives selections No. 26 and 28 from the Blues as well as No. 40 from the Crows.”

Adelaide list manager Justin Reid said the club wished McGovern all the best.

“We appreciate the contribution Mitch has made to our club and wish him all the best for the years ahead, both on and off the field,” Reid said.

The Adelaide Crows and Carlton have reached an “in-principle” agreement on a deal for Mitch McGovern, according to a report.

According to Fairfax’s Jake Niall:

“Under the deal, which was agreed on Tuesday, but is yet to be lodged, the Blues were to give up their two second-round picks, currently picks 26 and 28, and the rights to McAdam, who plays for Sturt in the SANFL.

“The second round picks were then traded to the Swans, whose first pick, number 13, will be traded to Adelaide.

“The Age believes the Crows might also give back a third round choice to Carlton – and that there may be other less significant elements to the deal – but could not confirm this detail.

“The Crows will therefore receive pick numbers 13 and 23-year-old McAdam, who starred in the SANFL this year and was on the radar of many clubs, some of which rated him inside the top 20 in the draft.”
