The Adelaide Crows say they will not entertain any offer for wantaway star Charlie Cameron.
“Nah, he’s a contracted player,” Adelaide list manager Justin Reid said on Monday. “We’re happy where Charlie is.”
“We had a quick chat with Brisbane. Obviously he’s a contracted player and a required player in 2018 at the Adelaide football club.
“He’s contracted and we’re keen on Charlie being at the Adelaide football club in 2018.”
Reid dismissed suggestions the club should release Cameron for ‘compassionate reasons’.
“What we’ve been through as a footy club over the last five years, player welfare is of the highest order. We’ll continue to do that.”
ADDITIONAL UPDATES
Bryce Gibbs
“Bryce is a contracted Carlton player. As we all know, we showed interest last year but have since moved on and it’s not a focus for us.”
Steven Motlop
“That’s only new, so we’ll work through that in the coming days. I wouldn’t read into what’s being reported, put it that way. Reports suggesting we’ve offered Steven a contract are totally incorrect. However, we have some interest and will do our due diligence. Free Agency is open until next Sunday, so he’s got a bit of time.”
Jake Lever
“We’re not going to discuss the asking price and specifics publicly because it serves no purpose in the negotiations. As we’ve said previously, we’ll always act in the best interest of the Adelaide Football Club. We’ve had some good dialogue with Melbourne. We’ll see how we go in the next fortnight.”
