Aussie Rules hall of famer Terry Wallace is tipping Norwood’s Mitch Grigg to attract strong interest from clubs before this year’s AFL Draft.
On Thursday Wallace said he believed the AFL would soon announce that they will allow “lower clubs” to take their pick from the best state league talent before the draft.
“I’m now hearing that the AFL may allow these lower clubs to give them a bunk up,” he told SEN.
“I don’t know whether it’s 6, 4, 8 — got no idea how many, but I’m hearing that they are going to allow them to have first crack at this talent.”
Grigg’s was the first name Wallace mentioned in a top 10 list of the best ‘diamonds in the rough’ at the state level.
“He’s now won two Magarey medals in a row,” Wallace said, “strong body, very nice kick of the football.”
“Probably his fitness level is the one thing he needs to get serious.
“If someone was going to approach him you would want to know that he was going to take that very seriously because that’s the one areas that lets him down a little bit, but certainly has the talent to play at the level.”
