Crows assistant coach Scott Camporeale says he didn’t personally deliver Josh Jenkins the news he would be dropped this week, but he knows how it would’ve been received.

“I didn’t physically speak to him,” Scott told Ben Hart and Kane Cornes on FIVEaa. “Don [Pyke] does that job… so that’s part of the senior coach’s role.”

“I would suggest he would’ve been disappointed, as all players are when they get omitted. He’s a strong character JJ -- he’ll force his way back in.”

Scott said JJ’s omission was not all down to “the raw numbers”…

“It’s the whole package,” he said. “We’ve been backing him in because he’s been a quality player for us, but he probably hasn’t quite played at the level that he or us would like.

“Unfortunately he loses his spot and he goes back to the SANFL with a few things to work on.

“I don’t think it will be too long before we see him back in the 22.”

Hugh Greenwood and Jordan Gallucci will debut against Brisbane on Saturday as they replace Jenkins and David Mackay who has also been omitted.
