Herald Sun chief footy writer Mark Robinson says a source at North Melbourne has told him the club has made no move for out-of-contract Port Adelaide defender Jasper Pittard.

Pittard was recently linked to the club, Robbo said, but the story doesn’t square with what he’s been told:

“I spoke to someone at North Melbourne -- they said we haven’t put in an offer for Jasper Pittard. They’re right into Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly.

“I was told they haven’t made an offer, that’s not to say they wont, but I’d be really surprised.”

Robbo warned against reading anything into Pittard’s omission from the team for Port’s clash with Brisbane.

“You’re allowed to get dropped from the senior team if you are not playing good football. The coaches have still got to have that power.

“If Port are playing finals this year, they need Pittard having 25-30 off the back flank every week.”
