There Could Be Some Bad Injury News For Port Adelaide Fans

Apr 11, 2019

Port Adelaide are planning for the possibility that star forward Charlie Dixon will not play a game this year, reports FIVEaa’s Stephen Rowe.

Dixon broke his leg in Round 21 last year and was expected to be ready for Round 1 this year but suffered another setback in his ankle and had an operation last month.

Now Stephen Rowe says he is hearing some troubling whispers.

“The big one here -- Charlie Dixon,” Rowey said on the FIVEaa sports show. “I’m not hearing any promising reports.”

“He’s likely not to get up this year and I think Port are planning that possibility.”

According to the club’s website, Dixon’s return date is TBC.

The forward told AFL Tonight two weeks ago: “I literally have no return date.”

“I’m doing some physical training hopefully next week, and then build on that. I literally don’t have a time frame at all and it is frustrating," he said.

“Everyone is sort of asking me when am I coming back? And I literally have to tell them I don’t know. It is a funny one.

“I am a big, heavy man and it is putting a lot of weight on my ankle and leg where I broke. It is going to take time.”
