FIVEaa’s Stephen Rowe has accused Peter FitzSimons of being “the captain” of “Christian kicking” after FitzSimons spoke out against Margaret Court’s public comments regarding same sex marriage.

Rowey put to Peter on the FIVEaa sports show:

“Just in defence of her, Peter -- and I’ll declare my hand, I’m a Christian -- she was asked a question about same sex marriage and really all she said was a man should marry a woman… and she’s been absolutely smashed from all quarters.

“I just think it’s starting to be a religion kicking Christians and I reckon you’re the captain of it.

Peter hit back:

“When they carry my coffin there’ll be about five Christians -- led by Nick Farr-Jones and Jon Eales. Good luck to them… the Christians I know are the inclusive Christians… the Christians that say there’s something wrong with your sexuality, they’re the ones that completely lose me…

“Gay teens take their lives at five times the rate that straight teens do. We understand that now better than we’ve ever understood that.

“What that means is there’s a duty for all of us to say people that vilify gays in the public square, it behoves the rest of us to say we don’t do that anymore.”
