Bicks said during Monday’s FIVEaa sports show:
“The only thing I would take Matthew Nicks to task on: ‘We’re up against some really good quality and we knew that.’
“Melbourne finished 17th last year,” Bicks said. “I still wasn’t convinced with what I saw on the weekend that they’re an absolute lock for the eight. They’re in the same batch of seventh to twelfth or thirteenth that a lot of teams are in. “I’m not sure they [Adelaide] have come up against someone of a real high quality just yet -- Max Gawn didn’t play, Steven May didn’t play, they had a number of players out as well. “That to me was just a bit of a worrying sign.”
