Graham Cornes Addresses ‘The Elephant In The Room’

Mar 14, 2018

Graham Cornes says the Adelaide Crows have a “dilemma” in their forward line and has wondered out loud about Josh Jenkins’ spot in the team.

“That is the elephant in the room, isn’t it,” Cornesy said of JJ on the FIVEaa sports show. “When the team plays well he’s really important to the structure.”

“He’s hard to match up, on he’s energetic, he’s up the ground, he’s back, they can’t keep up with him, he kicks a long ball, takes reasonable marks. But when they struggle he then becomes a liability.

“Darcy Fogarty -- he took the first two marks, he kicked the first two goals then took a third one and was going to kick three but he missed… he impresses me. He hits the ball hard and takes a good mark, competes at ground level, kicks a reasonable ball.

“If Taylor Walker’s not right I think he has to play.

“The Crows have got a dilemma in their forward line, because do they go with what did so much for them in so many games last year but fell down in the final, or do they look at something completely different. Do they try and set up their forward line as Richmond is doing?”
