Graham Cornes says the decision to fine England for advancing on New Zealand during the haka at this year’s rugby union World Cup is “ridiculous”

Cornesy told the FIVEaa sports show:

“I think they’re being hypocritical. I don’t know whether the kiwis complained but we understand the English are going to be fined.

“This is ridiculous.

“They say the haka is a traditional cultural ritual… but it is usde as an intimidatory tactic, there is no doubt about that. The way they face up, the way they look, the way they yell -- they’re defying you to come at [them]. So the English did, they formed in a special V and they tried to advance.

“I don’t have a problem with that and to think that they’re going to be fined for that is ridiculous.

“There’s protocols for the national anthem -- this is a war dance."
