AFC chairman Rob Chapman has paid a heartfelt tribute to outgoing captain Taylor Walker who helped lead the club through several tragedies, including the death of then-coach Phil Walsh in 2015.

Chapman has told the FIVEaa sports show:

“It’s at those times when you wonder whether you’re a good leader, or you’re looking at people to see whether they are, that you know. He was a rock. The way I saw him lead his teammates and their families -- partners, wives -- that was strong.

“I’d stand by him any day.

“He’s given everything. I reckon he’s going to have a big pre-season and he will have hopefully a good couple of years of football to stamp himself as one of the better footballers going around.”
