Thanks to Phil Hoffmann Travel.

A picturesque city framed by its bay and the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco is famous for its hilly landscape, iconic bridge, notorious prison and open-minded thinking.

See & Do

Often blanketed in a sea of fog, the luminous Golden Gate Bridge is an unofficial symbol for the city. It was completed in 1937 after a treacherous four-year struggle against the elements. Originally a military jail, Alcatraz was a maximum high-security federal prison between 1934-63 and housed some of America’s most dangerous felons. Today, it’s a popular tourist attraction - the highlight being the Cellhouse Tour. Known as the “crookedest” street in the world, Lombard Street features tight turns, gardens and incredible views of the bay.

Stay & Play

The St Regis San Francisco is a luxurious Virtuoso property located in the SoMa district and is part of a vibrant mixed-use complex that includes private residence and a museum. The Wharf Inn offers great value while The Argonaut Hotel is a lavish and modern luxury boutique waterfront hotel in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. PIER 39 on Fisherman’s Wharf is the most visited destination in San Francisco and offers it all with two levels of dining, entertainment, shopping and attractions - all surrounded by unbeatable views.

Eat & Drink

With more than 4,500 restaurants, there’s an endless choice of dining options. Tartine Bakery will have you moving to San Francisco before you've finished your perfectly flakey croissant while Ozumo is said to have the best sushi in town. For something unique, head to Lazy Bear with communal seating and an invitation from the chefs to watch them while they cook. Tiki Bars are alive and well here, with Forbidden Island one of the kitschiest and most popular while Barbarosa Lounge is a lively bar to grab a cocktail.

San Fran is blessed with some of the best shopping in the world – from outlets to luxury boutiques. Union Square is a bustling urban hub and home to department stores with virtually every top fashion label in the world. Visit Maiden Lane for a concentration of upscale retailers including Chanel and Marc Jacobs. Purchase a made-to-order custom pair of Levi’s at their flagship store on Market Street, while Valencia Street in the Mission District is the place to go for vintage shops, bookstores and locally owned clothing boutiques.
