SA Very Likely To Be Hit With Blackouts This Summer

South Australia now faces a “60 per cent” chance of blackouts amid increasing problems with the national electricity market, says a leading energy economist.

Following warnings electricity problems in Victoria could impact SA this summer, economist Danny Price spoke to FIVEaa’s Leon Byner about the state’s chances of experiencing blackouts:

“I would’ve put it worse than 50-50, probably 60-40. 60 per cent chance,” he said.

“It’s a policy-driven disaster and it can be fixed, but it can’t be fixed under the current market arrangements… I think it’s just so broken it can’t be tinkered with or fiddled it needs to be thrown out and start again.”
