The western NSW town of Menindee is running a GoFundMe page for drinking water after its tap water became polluted.

The page’s owner Mal Highet posted a photo of rain water compared to the town’s tap water and said he is planning a “bottled drinking water run ASAP”.

“We are going to take the water to Menindee ourselves and distribute to the people personally, with help from local businesses.

Any donation of slabs or boxes of water would be much appreciated

thank you.”

Menindee has come to national attention in recent weeks after more than a million fish died in the Darling River near the town.
