The man behind a food van that will be booted out of Rundle Mall has hit out at the shopping strip’s management.

“Unfortunately since [former CEO] Mr Darbyshire left the team there it’s virtually been going backwards, which I hate to say,” Combeeze’s Anthony Schmidt told David and Will on FIVEaa breakfast.

“We’ve got a little business here and there’s plenty of negatives towards us, but there’s a major amount of positives. That’s been proven over the last few days.”

Mr Schmidt said there were more than 10,000 signatures on an online petition to keep the van in Rundle Mall -- plus another 3-4,000 handwritten signatures.

“The Combi is very much a drawcard.”

But Rundle Mall’s Amanda Grocock said Combeeze’s lease would not be renewed due to “commercial factors” as well as permit breaches.

“We need to be fair and equitable to make sure that there’s opportunity for other business to operate in this space.”
