The Trial Of SA’s Teenage Riverland Plotter Will Make History

Dec 7, 2017

The Advertiser’s chief court reporter Sean Fewster says the trial of a teenager charged over a plan to carry out a schoolyard massacre will be a first for the state.

“Because of the amendments that have been brought through as a result of recent youth cases, it means that this 16 year old will be the first to face adult sentencing under the new sentencing regime,” Sean told FIVEaa.

But details of the boy’s school and town are still suppressed, explained Sean.

“If you are a youth charged with an offence, you can’t do anything that would tend to identify that person, and the name of a school could very much tend to identify that person.”
