A new plan to improve resident safety following revelations of horrific conditions at Oakden will fall “well short” of the installation of CCTV cameras in SA aged care facilities, reports FIVEaa’s David Penberthy.

Penbo said during Wednesday’s Breaking @ 8 segment:

“Regrettably our understanding is that there’s a proposal that is pretty close to being finalised and it falls well short of CCTV cameras.

“There’s talk of having motion sensors or some sort of Bluetooth-type device…

“But in terms of there being cameras that can actually record acts of violence or abuse towards the elderly we understand that is not going to go ahead to the extent that people like the whistleblower Stewart Johnston had been advocating.”
