The Demolition Of A Favourite Adelaide Venue Is “100 Per Cent A Possibility”

Discussing the future of Thebarton Theatre as South Road undergoes major upgrades, FIVEaa Breakfast’s David and Will were forced to admit the venue’s demolition is “a live option”.

Penbo said during Tuesday’s show:

“I can’t for the life of me work out why the state government has left alive the option of demolishing the Thebarton Theatre for most of this year, why they didn’t just step in from the start and say, listen, we don’t care what maps or modelling DPTI come up, with we’re putting a big red circle around the Thebby and saying they’re not going near it.”

But Will Goodings knew…

“It can only be for one reason,” he said. “It is a live option.”

“I know we didn’t think it would be a live option to begin with, but if you let it go this long without ruling it out it is 100 per cent a possibility.”

More than 60,000 people have so far signed a petition to “Save Thebarton Theatre From The Bulldozers”.
