Rory Sloane To Lead A Brand New Leadership Group At The Adelaide Crows

Jan 22, 2020

FIVEaa’s Stephen Rowe says Rory Sloane is “the right man” after the club announced him as sole captain and leader of a new-look leadership group at the club for the 2020 AFL season.

Former captain Taylor Walker and star defender Daniel Talia have exited the club’s leadership group, which now includes Sloane, Matt Crouch, Tom Lynch, Tom Doedee and Brodie Smith.

Rowey told FIVEaa Breakfast on Wednesday:

“Overnight Rory Sloane -- no surprise -- will be the Crows captain this year. He’s the right man. Selfless, team first, he’s a no excuses, born leader. The day he set foot in this club all those years ago was one day closer to being captain for me. Well done Rory, you big Sloane burger.”

Rowey said Walker and Talia’s departure from the leadership group was “selfless”.

“I think they wanted to step aside for a rebuild in the leadership group and it is of sorts. I love the fact Brodie Smith and Tom Doedee is the one for me -- the rise and rise of Tom Doedee on and off the field, another born leader.

“I like it, I like it a lot.”
