Premier Steven Marshall says there will be “flow on effects for the South Australian economy for generations to come” after Adelaide was made the headquarters of the Australian Space Agency.

“I really have been obsessed about bringing the national space agency to South Australia because I know this will create investment and the jobs that we so desperately need to get our economy back up off the mat,” Mr Marshall said on Wednesday.

“This will really turbo charge where our economy goes… and I think it will lift the overall confidence of the state. I couldn’t be any happier.

“South Australia has had a great space sector for a long period of time. Going back 50 years ago we were putting satellites in space. We’ve got about eight firms in South Australia already employing around 600-800 direct employees in the space sector, so we’ve got a very strong base.

“It was a massive team effort we didn’t leave one stone turned unturned and this is going to have a flow on effects for the South Australian economy for generations to come. This is a great day for our state.”
