FIVEaa Breakfast’s David Penberthy says he is only a “teeny bit” concerned about news SA’s senior drivers perform the worst when quizzed about important road rules.

Penbo said on Tuesday:

“For a lot of them it’s 50 or 60-odd years since they got their licence… instinctively older people become more cautious.

“Maybe in becoming exceedingly cautious they can then cause distractions or dangers to other drivers, but I would much prefer that than the ratbag 18-year-old in the 1984 Commodore who’s doing 110 in a 60 zone.”

According to the RAA, between a quarter and a third of senior participants answered the most questions wrong when quizzed about road rules. And 70 per cent bombed out when asked about safe distances between cars and indicating at roundabouts.
