“I just want to say a few words about Bob Foord who died unexpectedly and massively prematurely yesterday,” Penbo said on Wednesday. “He was only 67. Nobody saw this coming.”

“Bob was just the world’s best bloke. Probably known to a lot of people through his pretty prominent role as a member of the Crows board… but as a businessman he did so much for South Australia. For about 35 years he worked at the upper echelons of the tourism sector here…

“Things like the Wine Centre, the Entertainment Centre, Bob was on the board for so many of the different things that make Adelaide what it is. He was a passionate South Australian… loved him to bits.

“I was actually going to be having lunch with him and another mate today, but there’ll be an empty chair and with heavy hearts we are going to raise a glass in Bob’s memory.

“Adelaide is the poorer for his loss… he is going to be sorely missed. Our thoughts are very much with his wife Sheryn and the five girls.”
