Port Adelaide co-captain Ollie Wines says he “cannot fault” coach Ken Hinkley’s handling of team selections after high-profile recruit Steven Motlop was dropped for this weekend’s game.

Ollie told FIVEaa Breakfast on Thursday:

“There’s no team meeting as such to explain selection. Ken’s really good with us on team selection day when they have match committee.

“He’ll walk around to every player -- [all] 44 -- and explain the team and where they’ll be playing that week and how he thinks they’re going. You cannot fault him for being so one on one.

“If guys aren’t in form they’ll know as soon as they’re not in form and they’ll be put on notice. We all understand that if our Maggies team is going well and we’ve got guys pushing for selection as soon as you reach that tipping point of not being in form in the AFL, well, your spot’s going to be up for grabs.

“Toddy [Marshall] played a really good game last week so he’ll come back in for Mots. But we’ve got full faith Mots will go back and find that form in the SANFL and be back in no time.”
