An eyewitness has told FIVEaa he saw people running for their lives after a gunman opened fire on a Christmas market in Strasbourg, France, on Tuesday local time.

The latest from French authorities is that three people were killed and a dozen others were injured by a 29-year-old suspect who has not yet been caught.

UK man Gary told FIVEaa breakfast:

“The first thing we noticed was lots of people running across one of the bridges that lead into the Christmas market area and then tonnes and tonnes of police and police vehicles just swooped in… it was quite scary.

“We were sitting in a restaurant as reports of what had actually happened started coming in on people’s phones. It took us almost an hour to get out of the city because the police had blocked a lot of the roads off.”
