Outgoing federal minister Christopher Pyne marked his first ‘Two Tribes’ segment since announcing his retirement by missing the start of it.

Mr Pyne’s long time sparring partner Anthony Albanese was forced to go solo until the senior Liberal finally joined the party.

“Good morning, I apologise for not being available when you were ringing. It’s very unlike me,” Mr Pyne said.

ALBO: “I’ve been speaking on your behalf, Christopher.”

PYNE: “I’m sure you would’ve been saying nice things, too, especially now I’m retiring. When you’re retiring everyone wants to be nice.”

ALBO: “Exactly.”
