Surprise Twist In Hammer Hartlett’s Departure From Port Adelaide

1 min read

“That amazes me…”

Port Adelaide defender Hamish Hartlett has revealed on FIVEAA he would have been “more than happy” to stay on as a senior player for the club in the SANFL.

LISTEN HERE:

This week PAFC announced Hartlett would not be given a new contract for next season, and Hammer has told Rowey’s Sports Show:

“There was none of those conversations had. I would’ve been more than happy to have played that sort of Tyson Goldsack, Cam Sutcliffe role in the last couple of years of being that senior player at Magpies level and I would’ve still backed myself in to crack the AFL team at various stages.

“That idea wasn’t floated…

“Chris Davies and Kenny both said we don’t really want to see you rolling around at SANFL level. They said we think you’re far better than that. It was a difficult one to comprehend.

“We’ll wait and see when the dust settles over the next few days, perhaps those conversations might be had, but I think from what I can gather my time there was done unfortunately.”
