Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has assured fans that barring a “senior opportunity” elsewhere, highly-touted assistant Michael Voss will remain at the club.
Hinkley told FIVEAA’s Rowey & Bicks that keeping the club’s current coaching group together “is going to be difficult, but we’re really lucky”.
“We’ve got a really committed group of coaches,” he said. “We’ve made some changes… they’re really sad decisions but the group that we’ve got that is still here with us now, every one of them has to sacrifice to be a part of our club going forward and every one of them has chosen to do that…”
“I’m sure Michael is doing everything he can to be ready for us…
“The reality is Michael should be and would be – if I was looking for a football club – he would be the next best and you wouldn’t hesitate to give him a go… but Michael said something along the lines of, ‘It doesn’t mean I’m in a hurry, it doesn’t mean I’m going tomorrow.’ He’ll work through that, but you can be assured of one thing: if he doesn’t get a senior opportunity he’ll still be at Port Adelaide.”
