David Mackay Tribunal Case Could “Change The Fabric Of The Game”

1 min read

“It will be ground breaking if he gets a game…”

FIVEAA’s Stephen Rowe says it will be “ground breaking” if Adelaide Crow David Mackay is suspended over a collision which left St Kilda’s Hunter Clark with a broken jaw.

LISTEN HERE:

AFL lawyers will argue Mackay’s action was “careless conduct/high contact/severe impact” and deserves “a suspension of at least three matches”.

Rowey told FIVEAA Breakfast’s David & Will on Tuesday:

“For me it was a genuine 50-50 footy collision… a copybook footy collision. It will be ground breaking if he gets a game here. It will change the fabric of the game… it’s a gamechanger if he gets a suspension.

“It basically means players will now be 100 per cent responsible for any and all situations in a contest if the opposition is injured… it will be an absolute disgrace.

“If he misses a game for that… we need to lead a revolt to AFL House… he was committed fantastically to the contest that we’ve all been taught how to do. I’m flabbergasted.”

Mackay’s case will be heard by the AFL Tribunal on Thursday.
