Worried Ambos Told To Zip It In “Embarrassing” Memo

1 min read

“A disgrace”

FIVEAA Breakfast’s David & Will have slammed as “embarrassing” and “a disgrace” a communication sent to SA Ambulance staff after a number of ambos spoke out publicly about the service being at “breaking point”.

Penbo quoted from a circular sent from the CEO of SA’s Ambulance Service David Place before telling listeners:

“What all of this gibberish means when you translate it into actual English is shut up or we might sack you…

“What it shows is that this government – like governments everywhere in the modern era – they want to ensure their army of press secretaries and media officers are in charge of the flow of information or in their preferred case here the non-flow of information by hinting that you’re prepared to take disciplinary action against any ambo who dare speak up about it. It’s a disgrace.”

WILL: “That’s embarrassing. What a complete embarrassment that is. Ambulance workers are fearful they might die or they might not be able to save you from dying and the state government’s message is we don’t want you knowing about that. There’s your worst fears about government realised in a single email.”
