More than 5,000 feral camels have been culled in SA’s APY Lands.
According to a statement from the APY Lands reported by Channel 9:
“The region’s first major cull of feral animals was in urgent response to threats posed to communities by an increase in the number of feral camels due to drought and extreme heat.
“More than 5000 camels were removed in an aerial control operation with backup by APY ground operations.”
APY General Manager Richard King said the cull was done in “the most humane way”.
It's been confirmed more than 5000 of the animals were killed in the cull in the state's APY Lands. #9News https://t.co/ppQTWoRi6y
