A man is in hospital following a police shooting at Ingle Farm overnight.
According to SAPOL:
Just before 2.30am on Tuesday 14 May, patrols attended at house in Burri Street after reports of a domestic violence related incident involving a man and a woman known to each other.
On arrival police were confronted by a 20-year-old man from the home who was out the front carrying a gas cylinder. The man advanced towards police and lit the gas cylinder at which time police spotted the man was also carrying a knife. Police negotiated with the man to drop the cylinder however he kept advancing toward them. He then dropped the cylinder and continued advancing and threatening police with the knife.
Police tasered the man but this was not successful. At this time both police officers produced their firearms and shot at the man.
Police then rendered first aid before the man was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition and his injuries are not considered life threatening.
An 18-year-old woman also from the house, was also taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with facial injuries.
Investigators from Major Crime, Eastern Adelaide CIB and Internal Investigation Section are at the scene conducting an investigation into the incident along with Crime Scene officers.
Police are receiving support from SAPOL Employee Assistance Section.
