There are suggestions the blood alcohol limit for drivers on Australian roads should be reduced to zero after four children were killed in an alleged drink-driving crash in Sydney on Saturday night.
According to a report on 9 News:
“It’s the Australian College of Surgeons who are calling for a zero blood alcohol limit. They say it’s been done overseas and it can be done here.
Last year 57 Australians were killed by drunk drivers so it’s not hard to see why they are pushing towards a zero blood alcohol limit for drivers. Over the weekend we had arguable the most tragic alleged drink driving accidents…”
Siblings Anthony, 13, Angelina, 12, and Sienna Abdallah, 9, and their cousin Veronique Sakr, 11, were all killed while riding their bikes on a footpath.
Samuel William Davidson, 29, allegedly returned a positive roadside breath test and has been charged with 20 offences, including four counts of manslaughter as well as dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, drink-driving and other offences.
