PM Malcolm Turnbull says a video Pauline Hanson posted online calling for an Australian ban on Muslims in the wake of London’s terror attack was dangerous.
“Inciting hatred against any part of the Australian community is always dangerous,” Mr Turnbull told 3AW on Friday.
“It undermines the mutual respect that we have in our community.
“Free speech is very important, you can see the reforms we’ve proposed this week … everyone is entitled to free speech, that’s critically important.
“But we’ve got to be very clear about this; if you seek to attribute to all Australian Muslims or all Muslims responsibility for the crimes of ISIL then you are doing what ISIL wants.
“That is the classic strategy of the terrorists, and it has been forever.”

Political correspondent Phil Coorey told David and Will reactions like Hanson’s were becoming “standard practice”.
“We saw Donald Trump doing this in the United States during the presidential election campaign,” Phil said.

“Every time there was a terrorist attack abroad, you don’t actually wait and see who did it or what the circumstances were, you just get out there and play to everyone’s worst fears.
“That’s exactly what Hanson’s doing.
“It actually turns out that this piece of filth that perpetrated this attack in London was actually British-born.
“Having an immigration ban probably wouldn’t have stoped it.”
